Weekly Market Movers: Advertising Agencies on Top, Residential Construction Drops

During the week from Dec 16 – 22, the sentiment score for Advertising Agencies jumped by 42 points. The Rubicon Project and comScore led the category with the highest aggregated sentiment scores of 53 points and 42 points respectively. 

Top Industry: Advertising Agencies

Last Thursday, Rubicon Project announced a merger with Telaria to operate as one digital media buying platform that supports connected TV, desktop display, video, audio and mobile inventory transactions. According to a combined statement from both companies, the merger will create the world’s largest independent sell-side advertising platform.

The sentiment score for comScore reached 42 points last week. The company announced a long-term renewal with Paramount Pictures to continue providing box office measurement across both domestic and international markets. In addition to that, comScore signed a two-year agreement with Publishers Clearing House to provide digital audience measurement.

Flop Industry: Residential Construction

Meanwhile, the Residential Construction industry, joined the weekly market movers list for the first time as the worst-performing industry with a sentiment decrease of 30 points. Peach Property Group Ltd and Beazers Homes USA Inc. ranked bottom with a sentiment score of -22 and -36 points.

The CFO of Beazer Homes USA Inc. (BZH) sold 10,000 shares of the company on Dec 17 at an average price of $14.99. Recently, several equities research analysts have issued reports on BZH shares including a ‘hold’ rating from Zacks Investment Research and a “sell” rating from ValuEgine.

On the other hand, Peach Property Group recently announced that it would sell the former Hoesch Headquarters in Dortmund to Novum Development. The transaction price is not disclosed. Novum Development has plans to transform the building into a new hotel targeted at business and leisure travellers.
